ROME, ITALY – On Saturday, March 21, 2020, in cooperation with the Office of the Vice President and the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See, Samaritan’s Purse will open a 68-bed Emergency Field Hospital in northern Italy.
Working closely with the Italian Government, Samaritan’s Purse will deliver much needed medical supplies and care to Cremona, Italy, where the medical infrastructure is overwhelmed by COVID-19. Samaritan’s Purse will provide approximately 20 tons of medical equipment, a specialized respiratory care unit, and 60 disaster response specialists, including an emergency medical team, an ICU medical team, respiratory therapists, biomedical technicians, pharmacists, doctors, and nurses.
This incredible generosity illustrates the vital role that U.S. faith-based organizations play in providing care and support to those most in need around the world.
On behalf of the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See, I commend and thank Samaritan’s Purse and its President and CEO Franklin Graham for providing life-saving aid to the victims of COVID-19 in northern Italy.
