Your Holiness,

On behalf of the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See, I offer my warmest congratulations upon the eighth anniversary of your election as Bishop of Rome.

The United States and the Holy See are united in our common goals of protecting human rights and religious freedom for all, fighting inequality and poverty, and promoting democracy. Our many years of friendship and collaboration, strengthened by our shared values, has advanced peace, liberty, and human dignity around the world.

At this time of immense global challenges, I look forward to continuing our work together to face the world’s most pressing concerns.

Today, I join millions of Americans in congratulating you on your anniversary and in wishing you continued success in helping make the world a better place for all.
