Keely Zwart Kilburg is the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See. She is a career Foreign Service Officer with 18 years of service with the Department of State.
In Washington, Keely recently completed her second assignment in the Executive Office of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs and Bureau of International Organization Affairs. She previously served as Management Officer, and frequently as Acting Principal Officer, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, representing U.S. interests at the only U.S. Consulate General in Central Asia. Keely has also worked at the U.S. embassies in Beijing, China; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; and Mexico City, Mexico.
Prior to joining the U.S. Department of State, Keely was an attorney in a large law firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she practiced corporate and financial transactions law. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from Minnesota State University. Keely is married to a fellow U.S. Foreign Service Officer, and they have three wonderful children.
